5 Things We Bet You’ve NEVER Done at Walt Disney World… and you REALLY Should

Walt Disney World packs an awful lot of fun-filled adventure into their 42+ square miles of merriment. Yet, most vacationers tend to play it safe when it comes to playing in Mickey’s backyard. Sure, you’ve got your staple Must-Do’s – the mountains, the festivals, the fireworks. But just imagine what wonders lie ahead by just thinking outside the toybox a little? Well, we spent a little time doing just that! So, without further ado… here is a list of 5 Things We Bet You’ve NEVER Done at Walt Disney World… and you REALLY should!

1. Resort Only Stay!

Yes, you read that right! We’re actually suggesting that you spend you time in theme park paradise by skipping the theme parks altogether. Blasphemous, we know! But hear us out… Walt Disney World Resorts are an experience in of themselves. Whether you prefer spas to pools, shopping to shows, or Dole Whip to dining… these resorts have it all. Now, we’re not suggesting that you just stay confined to your own. Go ahead, venture out to see what the other resorts have to offer, as well. While you may not be permitted to pool hop, most recreational activities are open to all. I mean, come on… where else can you stay in the South Seas (Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort) and take a ten-minute ride to the African safari (Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge)?

2. Mid-Trip Spa Day!

Most people don’t know that Walt Disney World has two state-of-the-art spas on campus: Senses Spa at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and Senses Spa at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. Both showcase a world-class spa, health club and salon offering massages, body treatments, hair styling and grooming services. If you really want to bring your vacation to the next level, book a spa day in the middle of your next trip! You won’t believe the wonders a mid-vaca reset can do for you and that special someone!

3. Opening-Day Attractions Day!

Where are my fellow geeks at? Y’all are going to love this one! Did you know that Magic Kingdom Park still hosts 12 Opening-Day Attractions!? Why not dedicate an entire day to visiting the classics! Sure, some have gone through their fair share of modifications throughout the years, but their majesty has remained and continues to shine bright, almost 50 years later!

Opening-Day Attractions Checklist:

  • The Haunted Mansion
  • Country Bear Jamboree
  • Dumbo The Flying Elephant
  • Frontierland Shooting Gallery
  • The Hall of Presidents
  • Cinderella’s Golden Carousel (Prince Charming Regal Carousel)
  • it’s a small world
  • Jungle Cruise
  • Mad Tea Party
  • Swiss Family Treehouse
  • Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room
  • Walt Disney World Railroad

4. Photo Shoot Day!

Have you ever considered setting a day aside solely for photos? I know, it sounds extreme! But check it… this takes all the stress off the other days on your trip! You get to pick the perfect outfit and the perfect spots, all while allowing yourself extra time to touch-up your hair and makeup!

 5. Wing It!

So, this one goes against everything I’ve ever said about taking a trip to Walt Disney World. But consider just winging it one of the days of your stay. Don’t over plan, over schedule, or even overthink it. Simply, wake up when ya want and move at your own pace. While this may cause a bit of trouble when it comes to getting into the right restaurant or landing the perfect viewing spot for the fireworks… it can be the breath of fresh air your trip needs! Who knows, you just may lift your head from the MyDisneyExperience App and see the parks through a new lens!
